Glazed ceramic consists of two parts including body and glaze. The body of ceramics is prepared from a paste containing the following materials:
- Kaolin (kaolin/kaolinite)
- dolomite
- Bentonite
- talk
There are also different types of ceramic glaze, glass glaze is usually produced with the following materials:
- Lead oxide
- silica
- Feldspar
- kaolin
White glaze is obtained from tin oxide.
Colored minerals are used in making colored glazes.
The main raw material for ceramics and wall tiles is clay, but in floor ceramics, materials that melt faster are used more. The reason for this is that during cooking, more adhesion between the particles is created and in addition to strength, it absorbs less water.
